July is almost over! Soon it will be August and school will start back. However, right now feels like a funny "in between" time of waiting. Either kids are excited to start back or dreading it. Maybe they are bored or tired of working, or they may just be hitting their summer stride! Football is in the midst of two-a-days, while girls are practicing soccer. Teachers are taking their last vacations, and it finally feels like a Memphis summer. And the only sports on TV is either baseball or golf! Bring back football!
Sunday at church (Fellowship Memphis), our preacher talked about how we are in an "in between" time awaiting the end of all brokenness, death, sadness, and hurt in our world. I know I can get focused on the wrong things sometimes, but when I focus on Jesus, those things seem to slip away. One of the great things about Young Life is we are always pointing kids to Jesus with our words and our lives. When we show up in their world, we are pointing them to God who showed up in our world through Jesus. When we love them for who they are, we are showing them the unconditional love of Jesus. When we try and guide them to make good choices, it is because the love of Jesus is full of grace and truth. Following Jesus isn't always easy, but one day it will be. Until that day, we will pursue kids "in between".
