After a weeks delay due to snow and ice, the Oscar Night that kids at MCHS students had been waiting for was here. Friday, February 27 was a night to celebrate their peers as each class voted on various categories and different kids walked away with an "Oscar." Examples of awards were "Class Favorite," "Best Smile," "Most Likely to be a Superhero," "Friendliest," "Most Talented," and my favorite freshman award, "Most Likely to be Prom King and Queen."
It was so fun to see how kids celebrated each other. There were various performances throughout the night, which displayed a huge range of gifts and abilities. Throughout it all, I just thought, "Isn't God great?" He has uniquely made each of us to do what we do best, and by doing our part, we make the beautiful symphony of God's Kingdom work. Each person standing alone is amazing in its own right, but together is so much more powerful. We as Young Life leaders were there that night. We didn't get any awards, but we were able to encourage kids, laugh with them, see their world, and celebrate. I am so grateful that we get to be a part of so many lives. Pray as we continue to seek out lost, hurting kids.
